Download data

It is frequently the case that files can be downloaded from a website. Examples include white papers, the annual reports and brochures. A file must meet certain requirements before you can download it. The downloadable file may not be an executable file (exe) and may not be larger that 30 MB.

Note:

By default a downloadable file is accessible to everyone. You can add the description for generated downloads to other functionality, so that the file is only accessible for authenticated visitors. You then place the file on a page that is authorised.

To add a page with a downloadable file:

Using the following steps, you can add a page with a downloadable file. You can use this, for instance, to create a direct link to the annual report.

  1. Log on and start Site management.
  2. Go to the tab: General.
  3. Click on: New in the Page box.
  4. Select Refer to downloadable file.
  5. Click on: Next.

  9. Depending on the action chosen, you can now enter Keywords.

You can specify a number of keywords that are relevant within the content of the page. These keywords can have a positive impact on the page being found by search engines. The keywords must be separated by a comma and a space.

  10. Click on: Next.
  11. Select the Only available on the current site check box if you want to make this page available only to a specific user group.  By specifying a selection, you ensure that anonymous visitors or logged-on users who fall outside the selection criteria never get to see this page.
  12. Choose an existing selection you want the page to be available for.
  13. If applicable, select an input form.

You can use an input form to make sure that the visitor fills in a form before he or she can access this page.

  14. Click on: Finish.

You now need to link the page to a menu item so that this new page is also visible in the menu.
