Assembled item

An assembled item is an article that consists of multiple parts.

You can add assembled items in Profit Order management and Profit Subscriptions. In Profit Projecten, you only have this option in combination with Profit Order management and/or Profit Subscriptions.

Description

Example:

A good example of an assembled item is a table. A table consists of a top and a number of legs.

In Profit Order management, you can enter the following three types of assembled items:

  • Assembly

An assembled item of this type is itself an article in stock. An assembly consists of a number of other articles that you may have in stock. Profit registers the articles that are used as parts in an assembly as ‘consumed’.

  • Explosion

Profit does not track the stock for this type of assembled item. The parts are articles with stock that is normally registered in the sales process.

  • Product

For an assembled item of this type you can specify whether you want to track the stock or not. Profit then only tracks the stock at the level of the assembled item of the Product type. Profit does not track the stock of the parts of the assembled item of the Product type. You can however, track the stock of these parts (articles) via manual stock entries such as enter stock, etc.

Assembled item with fixed and variable costs

In an assembled item, you can include articles with both fixed and variable costs. You can set this up by adding the Fixed quantity check box to the entry layout of assembled items of the Explosion type.

Example: Assembled item with fixed and variable costs

Assembled item X consists of article 6000, Instelkosten, and article 8200, Machine-uren. The setup costs remain the same irrespective of the quantity of the assembled item (these are therefore fixed costs). The number of machine hours changes depending on the quantity of the assembled item, thus they are variable costs.

You can however, track the stock of these parts (articles) via the manual stock entries such as enter stock, etc.
