Configure a creditor for SEPA payments

You specify per creditor whether you want to pay the outstanding items automatically using a payment order.

Occasionally you can deviate from this setting in the properties of the outstanding items to be paid.

  • For creditors you pay automatically, each outstanding item is paid automatically. You can exclude outstanding items from payment.
  • For creditors you do not pay automatically, none of the outstanding items are paid automatically. However, for one or more outstanding items you can specify that you want to include them in a payment order.

To configure a creditor for automatic payments (SEPA payments):

  1. Go to: Financial / Creditor / Creditor.
  2. Open the properties of the creditor.
  3. Go to the tab: Bank account.
  4. Enter at least one bank account number for this creditor. This must be an IBAN bank account and the BIC code must have been entered; otherwise the outstanding items of the creditor are not included in the payment order.
  5. Add a bank account number for SEPA payments.

Enter the IBAN number and the BIC code for this account.

    Note:

You must fill in the BIC code field in order to include the invoice from the creditor in the payment order.

  6. In the following step in the wizard, Profit enters the value Bank account in theOn-charge code for the Shared costs.

For international payments, this is the way by which the costs are divided between the instructing party and the beneficiary. This value is mandatory for SEPA payments.

  7. Go to the tab: Payment.
  8. In Bank account, select the creditor's bank account number for automatic payments.

If the registration/city of the bank account differs from that of the creditor, specify this in the bank account number properties. This line is only applicable for international payments outside the SEPA area.

  9. In Payment method, select Payments in basic currency.

This payment method refers to the settings on the Payment tab of the bank account number you are going to use for payment. The payment method that you select here must match the payment method in the payment order. For SEPA payments, select Payments in basic currency. For payments in a foreign currency (for example in dollars), select Payments in foreign currency as the payment method.

  10. Select the Automatic payment check box.
  11. Select the Compress check box if you want the outstanding items of the creditor to be compressed into a single entry in the payment order and in the payment file. The credit notes are settled against the payment of other outstanding items in the same payment file for the creditor.

If this check box is not selected, the outstanding items of the creditor are not compressed into a single entry in the payment order and the payment file. You must also deselect this check box if you do not want to include all invoice numbers in the order information in the payment order. In that case, the invoice numbers can be shown on the bank statement of the creditor.

  12. Select the Payment differentiation check box if you want to send the creditor an overview of the invoices you are paying. If you also select the Compress check box, the specification shows the individual paid invoices, including the credit notes.

You can also create a payment specification if you are paying more items than can be specified on the statement from the bank.

  13. Click on: OK.
