Suppress the payment of a holiday allowance when changing employers

If an employee switches to another employer in Profit, this could have the undesired effect that the holiday allowance is paid out. To suppress the payment of the holiday allowance for an employee, proceed as follows:

  1. Go to: HR / Employee / Employee.
  2. Open the properties of the employee.
  3. Go to the tab: Wage component.
  4. Click on: New.
  5. Select the 'Vakantietoeslag' wage component.
  6. Click on: Finish.
  7. Open the properties of the 'Vakantietoeslag bij uitdienst berekenen' parameter.
  8. Click on: New.
  9. Enter the start date of the period in which the employee leaves employment.
  10. If necessary, enter an end date.

If you enter an end date, this is at least the end date of the period in which the employee leaves employment.

  11. Do not select the Apply check box.
  12. Click on: Finish.
Copy the calculation basis when switching employers

You can enter the accrued value from the old employer as wage entries. This way the value accrued with the old employer will be taken into account when the holiday allowance is paid out.

In Profit, two wage components are available for this purpose. Which wage component you should use in your situation depends on the method that is applied in the 100.002.014 'Vakantietoeslag' wage component:

  • The 100.002.014 'Vakantietoeslag' wage component uses the 'Grondslag opbouw' method:
    • You use the 100.002.501 'Opboeken grondslag nog uit te betalen vakantietoeslag' wage component.
    • This only works if the reservation applies to multiple financial years.
    • Enter only in period 1.
    • You enter 100% of the value of the holiday calculation basis, which is the total amount over which the holiday allowance is accrued. Profit then calculates 8% of the value entered.

If you select the 'Periode minimum' method, a minimum is taken into account when posting. In this case, for every employee and every period you compare the normal accrual with the minimum accrual and then select the largest of the two. You enter the balance of all these periods for the employee once only for the payment period or the period the employee leaves employment.

If 'Eind minimum' applies, you enter the cumulative part-time % on the 100.002.502 'Opboeken parttime% nog uit te betalen vakantietoeslag' wage component. For an employee who has worked 100% for 6 months, you enter 600%.

No reservation is made (wage component 100.002.508 'Afboeken reservering vakantietoeslag door extra opbouw' is calculated for the counter entry in the journal entry).

  • The 100.002.014 'Vakantietoeslag' wage component uses the Grondslag deze periode' method:
    • You use the 100.002.502 'Opboeken parttime% nog uit te betalen vakantietoeslag' wage component.
    • This only works if the reservation applies to multiple financial years.
    • Enter only in period 1.
    • You enter the cumulative part-time percentage. For an employee who has worked 100% for 6 months, you enter 600%.

No reservation is made (wage component 100.002.508 'Afboeken reservering vakantietoeslag door extra opbouw' is calculated for the counter entry in the journal entry).

    Note:

Each wage component has a comment in which the operation of the wage component is explained. Always take a look at this explanation on the Comment tab in the properties of the wage component in the CLA. If you do not have the wage component available, first activate it.

To check the holiday allowance method:

  1. Go to: HR / Organisation / CLA.
  2. Open the CLA properties.
  3. Go to the tab: Wage component.
  4. Open the properties of the 'Vakantietoeslag' wage component.
  5. Go to the tab: Parameter.

Check the value of the 'Methode' parameter.
